Overview

The Tusm valley is also known as the Hidden Valley which is the land of different monasteries and hamlets. The region has a high number of Tibetan populations that lies on the northern part of Manaslu on the Nepal-Tibetan border. This area was used to be restricted to tourists until 2008. It has its own culture and tradition that are Buddhism influenced. Once, Tusm Valley was a separate area from both Nepal and Tibet. Still, the region is less exposed in comparison to the other tourist areas. The people living in Tsum Valley have their own unique lifestyle which may be quite surprising for the tourists. There is a practice of polyandry in this area. Manaslu Tusm Valley Trekking area is full of beautiful mountains, passes, deep George, hamlets, gompas, chortens and mani walls.

Our Manaslu Tusm Valley Trekking towards begins from Kathmandu. The trek takes you to the Tsum Valley with the majestic views of Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, Bouddha Himal ranges and many more. In the initial days of the trek, we explore Budhi Gandaki Valley which goes through the dense forests, terraced fields, and different hill villages. While entering to Tusm Valley, we get the feeling of entering truly into the hidden valley. We pass through different alpine forests, glacial rivers with the enjoyment of warm hospitality of ethnic people. On the way, we’ll visit Buddhist Gombas, Milarepa’s Cave, Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa and many others.

Day by Day Itinerary

As soon you arrive in Kathmandu, a representative will pick you up and transfer you to a hotel. We’ll discuss the tour later. In the evening, you’ll be served a special type of dinner that introduces Nepali food culture.


Early in the morning, we drive towards Barpak that takes us to the western mountains in Gurkha region. We drive to Baluwa and take a local jeep to Barpak Village which is situated on the hilltop. Overnight in Barpak.


We move towards the mountains trail in the easterly direction into the main valley of the Budhi Gandaki River. The route towards Laprak gives panoramic views of Buddhi, Shringi, Ganesh Himal and the Langtang range. Overnight in Lapark.


We further trek towards east to Manaslu. After crossing the suspension bridge, we climb around hillside that takes us to Khorlabeshi. Overnight in Khorlabeshi.


The next day, after few more ups and downs, we reach Tatopani. Our journey continues towards another ridge. After crossing Budhi Gandaki on a suspension bridge, we climb over a ridge to Dobhan and reach to Jagat. Overnight in Jagat.


Early in the morning, we climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri and descend to Setibas. After reaching to Philim through the trail of crossing a suspension bridge, we reach Philim for night stay. Philim is known as a large Gurung Village.


After an early morning breakfast, we walk to the north across a forest which gives us the beautiful views of narrowing valley. The trail goes through pine tree forests going towards Tsum valley. We’ll observe the beautiful views of Himalchuli Mountains. After crossing the Shiar Khola, we finally reach Chumling. Overnight in Chumling.


Today, we walk towards the hidden valley of Tsum through the Serpu Khola with exciting views of Ganesh Himal. On the further walking through the steep route will take us to the village of Chokhangparo. Overnight in Chokhangparo.


The trek towards Nile is quite difficult because you need to be careful of altitude problems. After climbing up to Milarepa’s Cave and crossing Shiar Khola, we reach to the village of Phurbe and Pangdun which are rich in their unique culture and tradition. We finally arrive at Nile after crossing the village of Chhule. Overnight in Nile.


The trail towards Bhajyo goes to the west bank of the valley through Tibetan landscapes. Bhajyo is said to be a remote area with no local houses. There are only yak farm houses you can see. Overnight in Bhajyo.


Today, we take rest at Bhajyo where can get the magnificent views of Ngula and Dhojyang pass as well. Overnight in Bhajyo.


Another day, we descend towards Rachen Gompa. Rachen Gompa is a nunnery in Shiar Khola valley which is one of the largest nunneries in the region. Overnight in Rachen Gompa.


We continue our trek towards the south to the bridge and cross the west bank and descend again to Chhokangparo. On further walking, we reach to Chumje via Yaju which is situated in the northern part of the lower Tsum Valley. Overnight in Chumje.


The next we continue on the northern route in the lower Tsum Valley. The trail goes through the village of Dorjon Kharka and steep landscape. After crossing the suspension bridge, we finally reach the village of Bihi. Overnight in Bihi.


On this day, initially, we walk through the flat terrain and then move towards uphill through the forest path. After we arrive at Namrung, we’ll observe the magnificent views of Manaslu and its neighboring mountains. Overnight in Namrung.


Early in the morning, we enter the Buddhism influenced region of Lho through the forests and steep climb. The region gives us spectacular views of the rise of Ganesh Himal. Overnight in Lho.


Today, we follow the trail of shady fir forest and climb to a plateau and the village Shyala. We’ll notice the exciting views of Himal Chuml, Ngadi Chuli, and Manaslu. After walking far end of the village, we reach another village call Samagaon which is inhabited by Tibetans and lies at the foot of Manaslu. Overnight in Samagaon.


After an early breakfast, we descend towards Budhi Gandaki. The trail goes through the several mani walls and forests. After walking towards the large white kani, we finally reach to Samdo.


We continue our trail and cross the wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki and two streams, and witness the Larkya Glacier. We reach to the High Camp after we climb towards ablation valley on the north side of Larkya Glacier. Overnight in High Camp.


Early in the morning, we walk across the moraines of the glacier and make a gradual ascent towards steeper landscape. We’ll observe the outstanding views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru and the huge Annapurna II. After a long walk from the top of the pass, we finally reach Bimthang. Overnight in Bimthang.


We’ll again have a rest day at Bimthang since we’ve been trekking for more than two weeks. We’ll discover the different cultural life of the mountainous people in Bimthang in this day. Overnight in Bimthang.


Today, we descend towards Dharapani. The trail goes through the rhododendron forests to Karche which is the highest cultivating place in the valley. After crossing the wooden bridge back to the northern side of Dudh Khola, we finally reach Dharapani. Overnight in Dharapani.


After an early breakfast, we follow the trail of the Marsyandi River and cross the suspension bridge. We’ll climb up and away from the river and hike through the broad, and finally reach to Ghermu. Overnight in Ghermu.


Early in the morning, we walk through the terraced fields and villages of unique culture and tradition. After a walk alongside the left bank of the Marsyandi, we finally reach to Besisahar which is known as a dusty and busy place in the area. Overnight in Besisahar


After a breakfast, early in the morning, we drive towards Kathmandu. The trail goes on the bank of the Marsyandi and Trishuli River with the excellent views of green hills and mountains, terraced farming and villages on both sides of the road. After reaching Kathmandu, you can do some shopping of gifts for your family and friends. Overnight in Kathmandu.


Our tour comes to an end on this day. After an early breakfast and hotel checkout, a representative will help you with your final departure.
